Village Life

Hutton Roof is a small village in South Cumbria, situated between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. We lie 4 miles east of the M6 (J36), about 4 miles from Kirkby Lonsdale. The parish includes Newbiggin and Sealford.

This is a quiet, undiscovered area with fabulous views of the Lakeland Fells, the Howgills, Ingleborough, Whernside and Morecambe Bay.

Hutton Roof Crags is one of the most impressive areas of Limestone habitat in Britain and boasts a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), an SAC, 2 NNRs and an LNR.

Our prime annual event is the Fell Race and Country Fair every Spring Bank Holiday Saturday at the end of May. As well as the fell race there is a traditional village fair with children’s sports, many attractions and the famous cakes.
